For real estate investors, the economy today can be a great place to pick up some older homes extremely cheap. But, you don’t always get something ready to sell or rent out – and those fixer uppers can be great deals if you have the time to put into fixing them. For those that pick up homes that have a lot of junk in them, you need to figure out how to remove trash and debris safely and quickly. Here are some great ideas to help you out:
#1: Start by determining just how much you have to haul from the home before you begin. Walk through the house and yards and make notes on how much you will end up removing. This way, you can determine just how big a job this will be.
#2: Then, look at your choices when it comes to removing the trash from the house. If the job is small, you can simply use a couple of pick ups, but if the job is larger, then you will need to think about renting a dumpster.
#3: Go through the house and salvage any pieces of wood or other items that you can use when you are remodeling the house after you remove the trash. Set all of these items aside and make sure that everyone knows these are not to be thrown out.
#4: Now you want to make sure that you safely remove trash and debris that might be hazardous, such as asbestos siding or any lead paint. Older homes may not have been updated recently, and you don’t want anyone getting sick over anything that might be there.
#5: Also, make sure that you recycle anything possible, like metal. You can make some money in this way if you have enough to take to the scrap yard.
#6: When you’re ready to remove trash and debris, start by moving everything to one area of the house or yard. This way, you can take one day and have everyone help load the trash and get it completely cleared up.
#7: You do want to make sure that everyone helping in removing trash has the right safety equipment before they start working. This includes safety goggles, gloves, pants, and heavy shoes to prevent injuries.
#8: You want to have everyone work together on the day that you designate to remove trash from the home so that you can maximize your time and get everything done and out of the way.
#9: Now that the bigger trash has been removed from the house and property, take the smaller trash and bags out as well so that you have a clean slate to start your remodel.
#10: Last, remember that you will need another way to remove trash when the remodeling is done. You can plan to do it the same way or another way.
It doesn’t matter what you use to remove trash and debris from a remodel project as long as you do it safely. Simply follow these easy steps and you’ll be ready to rock and roll.
